New Experiences...
As I begin this course, I am thinking of technology and how I use it in the classroom. I am very excited to learn about how to properly integrate technology. Also, I would like to learn about a flipped classroom, and actually apply a flipped classroom approach.
I recently took on a new teaching position, in which I am teaching 8th grade math (3 classes Math 8, 2 classes Algebra 1) in a corporation that is 1:1 with iPads. A huge chunk of my technology knowledge I have taken the initiative to learn on my own; however, nothing prepares you for going into a classroom as a maternity leave sub, in a corporation that is 1:1. I have not had any of the training that was provided. I do not have a school-provided device (other than the desktop in the classroom). Yet, I am supposed to be fully utilizing these iPads on a daily basis and I could definitely use guidance.
I am familiar with many types of technology (even some "out-there" items for classroom use) which I could definitely shed light on those experiences. Also, I have now been in a 1:1 environment for 4 weeks, so I could share what I've learned so far.
Generally, I will need to spend more time exploring and getting ideas from my coursemates when it comes to any kind of technology I am not familiar with yet. Also, I could use a lot of assistance to fully integrate technology into my current classroom, even though it is temporary. Ideally, I could use more time exploring to determine the best way to instill a desire to learn into my students.
